Your Soul’s Calling

The concept of a ‘soul’s calling’ has its roots in many different traditions and philosophies, the earliest recorded being ancient Egypt. Plato and Aristotle both contributed to the understanding of the nature of the soul and its connection to human existence. Many ancient civilizations lived in relationship with both nature and the divine. To many societies, the ultimate intention was to live a life of growth from the call of the soul. Realization of the soul’s calling was the culmination of lived experience expressed into service.

Renowned storyteller and mythologist Michael Meade tells us there are no shortage of soul callings in the world, but there’s certainly a shortage of answering.

In fact, in times of great societal change (which we are smack dab in the middle of) there is an acceleration and intensification of these callings. Perhaps you are feeling it, some form of pull, call or longing. Much of our current world has lost the wisdom of the nature of our soul, our soul’s call, and how we answer this unspoken beckoning.

What can be even more confusing is, in these days, the call often comes in some sort of health or life crisis. Historically it comes around midlife, but we now see this in younger and younger generations.

Most of western culture has lost our soul guides that used to exist in the pillars of our spiritual or societal leaders. In its place we’ve unwittingly implanted grifters, thieves and charlatans that have not done the inner work that true leaders undertake.

There’s a backwards gift in this. As societal norms and security break down, we get to see behind the facade. What we thought was safe, secure and on some level promised to us, was in fact a skewed assurance from a biased and slanted view.

Now we have the opportunity to delve into our true inner work of security and growth — our true soul’s calling. When we answer this call, we cultivate our world from a deeper and more abiding security. This calling awakens our inner genius—what some call our unique gifts. When we bring these gifts to the world, we are working in deep harmony with our higher soul and unity consciousness.

You may have felt the enormity of this moment’s unique challenge. For these times, we have no map. We have no myth. In a sense, we are walking blind. This is what true creation is, my friend. There are no maps for creation — only invisible tugs, pulls, callings and longings.

This is what our higher soul calls us to.

Why is following our soul’s calling so hard?

In part, because a 17th century French philosopher named Rene Descartes brought forth his idea of the body-mind split through what has become known as Cartesian Dualism. The concept basically says the mind (thinking) and the body (physical experience) are two fundamentally different things. While it may seem distant, this dualistic outlook has flowed down through the centuries and is still impacting our beliefs and psyches today. Cartesian Dualism splits humans from nature and body from soul.

Many Indigenous and Native cultures have retained a wholistic interconnection of the divine or sacred with the physical world. However, dualism has impacted this connection in western culture through most everything – from medicine to education to personal growth to modern tech design and AI.

Simply said, dualism is the idea of ‘mind’ over ‘matter.’

  • In medicine this shows up as fixing symptoms instead of the root cause. Unless genetic, the foundation of health is in our nervous system. Even chronic pain and auto immune challenges. Even midlife challenges. Even mental challenges.
  • In education this shows up as going against the nature of biology — such as having adolescents start school early when their whole system is rewiring and needs more rest.
  • In personal growth this shows up as affirmations, bypassing human challenges for only divine solutions. It’s top down, change your story approaches (neocortex) instead of working with patterns and programs of our nervous system and subtle energy systems (subcortical)
  • In tech it shows up as AI and algorithms that answer our questions and longings. Have you noticed when scrolling you seem to be looking for something that is only momentarily satisfied?

We are collectively in the messy middle of a huge transition.

You’re not broken or beyond love, you’re simply working with an incomplete promise. Many of us have tried all the things, and yet, we still haven’t had our promised “breakthrough.” We are all steeped in survival stress. This is most likely underneath any challenge you’re currently experiencing. Seriously.

I’ve walked the path, know the pitfalls and learned the way out. I know how to help you get unstuck and follow your soul’s calling.

This world is not an illusion, it is a reality in which we are evolving our soul and consciousness through physical form—on a planetary level.

Nature isn’t broken, our relationship to it is. We have been living in separation and disconnection from the deepest aspect of who we truly are.

Your mind and body are not separate. In fact, you are an immense being with deep wisdom and unique gifts to bring to the planet right here, right now, and in your own way.

Can you feel the call? Even if you don’t know the words…

This is the work I do with humans:

We heal the nervous systems to improve health and relationships.

We reconnect our shadow parts to our luminous parts and experience a greater felt-sense of wholeness.

We reweave our life or midlife journey into our soul’s unique genius

We become alchemists of our own journey

We help reweave society into one of care, cooperation and empathy

We are healing the Cartesian split into unity consciousness.

Can you imagine a life like this?
